FAQ

1.    What is the objective of NTU Alumni Course Credits?
To promote lifelong learning and encourage alumni to acquire deep skills in a timely, accessible manner through modularised and technology-enhanced learning programmes, NTU is providing all alumni with NTU Alumni Course Credits. 

The launch of the NTU Alumni Course Credits seek to empower NTU alumni to undertake reskilling, upskilling and deep-skilling efforts in order to stay relevant in the ever-changing global workforce.

2.    Who is eligible to receive the NTU alumni course credits and bonus alumni course credits? What is the course credits amount offered?

NTU Alumni Course Credits
From 1 November 2017, all NTU/NIE alumni (students who graduated w
ith a diploma/degree from any of the undergraduate/postgraduate programmes offered by NTU/NIE) are eligible to receive the NTU Alumni Course Credits, regardless of nationality. Each alumnus will receive a one-time course credits of S$1,600.00


Bonus Alumni Course Credits
To support the undergraduate Class of 2020 who are graduating at a time of uncertainty​, the undergraduate Class of 2020 will receive an additional S$1,600 in Bonus Alumni Course Credits (valid till June 2021). 


3.   How can I use NTU alumni course credits and bonus alumni course credits to pay for the course fee?


For NTU Class of 2020

From 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021alumni of undergraduate Class of 2020 may utilise both their Alumni Course Credits and Bonus Alumni Course Credits, in total $3,200 credits to offset the full course fees (inclusive of prevailing GST) payable for courses offered by NTU's CET units.

From 1 July 2021, all unused Bonus Alumni Course Credits will be forfeited. The usage of their existing Alumni Course Credit will follow the normal terms and conditions like all other Alumni as below.  


For all other Alumni

From 1 July 2019NTU alumni may utilise their course credits of S$1,600.00 to co-pay up to 50% of the nett fee (exclusive of prevailing GST) payable for courses with starting date from 1 July 2019 onwards. There will be no administrative fee involved for the use of NTU Alumni Course Credits on courses with starting date from 1 July 2019 onwards.

Please refer to the tables below for the use of NTU Alumni Course Credits on 2 scenarios. All fees stated are in SGD and exclusive of 7% GST.


Example 1: John applied for a short course offered by PaCE@NTU that is not funded by any agencies.

4.    What courses can I enrol in using the NTU Alumni Course Credits?
All NTU alumni will be able to enrol in all courses offered by NTU-CET units from 1 July 2019. You may visit the website here for more information on NTU-CET units and their course offerings.

 

5.    I don’t think I want to take up any courses in NTU. Can I exchange the credits for cash or use them for something else?
NTU Alumni Course Credits and Bonus Alumni Course Credits can only be used to pay for course fees when enrolling in NTU-CET courses. The available credits cannot be converted into cash.

 

6.    Will NTU take my credits back if I don’t utilise them within a certain period?
This one-time $1,600 course credits given is perpetual. The university will review this initiative at the end of the five-year period to better respond to the situation at that time and ensure relevancy for our alumni.

 

7.    Am I guaranteed a spot in the course of my choice upon registration?
Availability of places and other terms and conditions, are subject to available capacity and granted at the sole discretion of the course organiser. It is advisable to check with the course organiser for details.

 

8.    Are there any other fees/charges/tax involved?
There will be GST charged on full course fee for each course. The alumni course credits of S$1,600 cannot be used to offset the GST. 

However, alumni of undergraduate Class of 2020 may utilise both their alumni course credits and bonus alumni course credits, in total $3,200 credits to offset the full course fees (inclusive of prevailing GST) for up to 4 NTU-CET courses including MiniMasters™ certificates that are SSG-funded.


Note: NTU Alumni Course Credits is only applicable for self-sponsored participant.

 

9.     For enrolling in PaCE@NTU courses, if I use the NTU Alumni Course Credits, will I still be eligible for any additional discount(s) (E.g. 20% alumni discount, 10% group discount, NTUC affiliation etc.)?
No, you will not be eligible to use the NTU Alumni Course Credits in conjunction with the other discount(s) (E.g. 20% alumni discount, 10% group discount, NTUC affiliation etc.).


For Standard (Non-funded) Courses,

·         If you choose to use the NTU Alumni Course Credits, you will not be allowed to tap on other discount(s).

·         If you choose NOT to use the NTU Alumni Course Credits, you will still be eligible for other discount(s) on short courses.

 

10.  Will my NTU Alumni Course Credits be refunded if I withdraw from the course?

Cancellation policy applies differently for each NTU-CET course organisers. It is advisable to check with the respective organiser before you apply for the course. For courses administered under PaCE@NTU, all fees including NTU Alumni Course Credits are non-refundable upon confirmation of your attendance.
