Digital disruption and technologies continue to drastically alter competitive dynamics across industry and businesses. Digital technologies transform the power balance between customers and business while simultaneously provide opportunities for business disruption. The rules for business success are being rewritten and organizations that do not embrace and embark on digital transformation risk demise. Strategic transformation initiatives need to be directed from the top and leaders need to build their competence in this area. Core concepts of strategy and leadership while still relevant need to be adapted for relevance in a digital era driving organization success and competitiveness. There is no one formula for success and every organization needs to develop its unique digital strategy and execute it through a managed transformation process. Intelligent Automation (IA) is central to the transformation from I3.0 to I4.0 and it is already a reality as the component technologies and processes are already matured or will be maturing within the next two to five years.   The critical success factors are already in place:

Digitization and Digitalization is already underway in many businesses and organizations, albeit at different pace.

  • Underlying technologies like Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Natural Language Processing and Generation (NLP/NLG), Cognitive Agents (e.g. Virtual/Digital Assistants, Chatbots), Machine and Deep Learning (ML/DL), Smart Workflow, Web Technology, Machine Vision, Autonomics, and others are already being used in solutions and getting better and smarter.
  • Advanced production and operations techniques are already combining smart digital technologies to create a digital enterprise that is not only interconnected and autonomous but can communicate, analyze, and use data to drive further intelligent action back in the physical world.
  • Advanced analytics and Big Data analytics are already being implemented and the analytic tools are within the reach of even small companies. Applications in the area of visualization of data are matured and the use of ML and Data Mining techniques are gaining popularity as they make their way into forecasting, simulation and optimization solutions.

This one-day course will provide a comprehensive overview of the various Industry 4.0 and Intelligent Automation technologies.  It serves as a good starting point before individuals go for more in-depth courses, e.g. RPA, Data Analytics and Market Sensing, etc.
