EE4534 Modern Distribution Systems with Renewable Resources
Objectives
After attending the course, students will have a basic understanding of the relevant technical concepts in the design and operation of distribution systems. In addition, students will also understand the operational aspect of renewable energy generations, and the various issues pertaining to their interconnections to the distribution grids. Students will also appreciate the options available for ensuring the continuity of electricity supply and a power quality that is commensurate with the needs of electrical equipment. Besides technical issues, economical aspects of electricity generation and usage would also be understood. The knowledge gained will prepare students well when they embark on careers involving electrical power distribution or in consulting companies. The course is also an excellent starting point for pursuing graduate studies in renewable energy technologies and power quality.

Who Should Attend
Working professionals with knowledge of 3-phase power systems, electrical machines, and power electronics would be useful. Or have read courses in Specialist Certificate in Electrical Power System previously.

Pre-requisite: EE2001, EE3010, EE3015 or Specialist Certificate in Electrical Power System

Admission:
At least 21 years of age
Have 2 years of full-time work experience, or have fully discharged full-time NS liability, or are currently employed on a full-time basis.
Degree in Engineering/Science or
Polytechnic Diploma with relevant working experience
